  • Scanning web traffic processed by Traffic Inspector Web Proxy
  • Scanning email traffic processed by Traffic Inspector SMTP Gateway
  • Disinfecting infected files

  • MORE ON THE ANTI-VIRUS MODULE

Traffic Inspector Anti-Virus is a module that provides anti-malware services to Traffic Inspector. The module scans HTTP and FTP traffic passing through the proxy server and mail traffic transmitted via the SMTP gateway in Traffic Inspector. It treats infected objects and removes and blocks incurable and dangerous files. Using heuristic analysis methods, it detects and blocks files that could harm users’ computers.

Setting up the anti-virus module is easy and simple. It is installed and administered using a familiar MMC interface within the Traffic Inspector administration console.

When a virus is detected, the module notifies the user of the infected file and all antivirus actions through the Client Agent, proxy server or a report in a mail message, depending on the type of threat.

Automatic updating of virus signatures is performed on a configurable schedule. Only new signatures are downloaded to reduce traffic volume.

The solution is fast, with convenient updates and easy-to-understand reports.

The Kaspersky Gate Anti-Virus plug-in is designed to complement end-point anti-virus solutions.

Traffic Inspector Anti-Virus powered by Kaspersky was developed using Kaspersky Lab's advanced technology to provide high-quality anti-virus security and efficiency.

    Kaspersky Gate Anti-Virus key benefits:

    • A gateway anti-virus inspects web and email traffic for malware. Infected files are scanned and cleaned on-the-fly.

    • Compatibility with other stand-alone anti-virus solutions for multi-level anti-virus protection.

Anti-Spam Module

The Traffic Inspector Anti-Spam powered by Kaspersky module provides spam recognition services to Traffic Inspector, which uses the information provided by the module to filter out spam and unwanted email.

Features and Benefits of the Anti-Spam Module

  • Filtering unwanted email
  • Blocking spam messages
  • Adding tags to email messages
  • Email traffic accounting

  • MORE ON THE ANTI-SPAM MODULE

Traffic Inspector Anti-Spam is a module that provides spam recognition services to Traffic Inspector. Traffic Inspector Anti-Spam configures Traffic Inspector gateway as a front-end to the corporate email server. Traffic Inspector uses spam recognition information provided by the module to filter out spam and unwanted email.

Traffic Inspector Anti-Spam was developed using Kaspersky Lab's technologies. The module analyzes email messages using the anti-spam database developed and distributed by Kaspersky. Traffic Inspector Anti-Spam does not require any prior training and is fully operational once its database is updated.

    • List-based filtration. Sender IP addresses are checked against spam blacklists maintained by Internet service providers and public organizations (DNS-based Blackhole Lists).

    • SPF and SURBL technologies. The filtration process involves verifying senders using the Sender Policy Framework. Detection of spammer IP addresses using DNSBL is supplemented by SURBL technology (Spam URI Real-time Block List), which can identify spam URLs in the message body.

    • Analysis of formal attributes. The module recognizes spam by such typical characteristics as distorted sender addresses or the absence of the sender’s IP address in DNS, an excessive number of intended recipients or hidden addresses. The size and format of messages are also taken into consideration.

    • Signature analysis. Lexical signature databases are updated around the clock. Using spam signatures, the module can even recognize modified versions of spam messages that have been altered to evade spam filters.

    • Linguistic heuristics. The module scans messages for words and phrases that are typical of spam messages. Both the content of the message itself and any attachments are analyzed.

    • Graphic spam. A database of signatures for graphic spam equips the module to block messages containing spam images, a type of spam that has become increasingly common in recent years.

    • Real-time UDS requests. The Urgent Detection System is updated with information on spam messages literally seconds after they first appear on the Internet. Messages that could not be assigned a definitive status (e.g., spam, no-spam) can be scanned using UDS.
